Getting to Rainbow Lodge

Where we are

We are less than 2 km upriver of the bridge in Tatai. There is no road access to Rainbow Lodge. We will pick you up from the bridge, and bring you here in our boat.

Pickup Point

We will pick you up from under the bridge in Tatai. If you need help with luggage, let us know, and we will come to help at the roadside. Please do not go to the Canvas & Orchids reception.

Parking

If you have your own transport, there is private parking at the bridge. There is a daily charge of 10000៛ (approx. $2.50) for cars, and 5000៛ (approx. $1.25) for motorbikes.

Getting to Tatai

From Phnom Penh

From Phnom Penh you can come directly by bus, shared taxi or private taxi. The route is via the expressway and National Road 48. For buses and shared taxis, the final destination is Koh Kong but you should ask to be dropped off in Tatai, which is 20 km before Koh Kong. Three companies operate buses between Phnom Penh and Koh Kong: Vireak Buntham Express, Vibol Express and Oling Pich. Prices are around $15 – $17 per person There are multiple websites for booking bus tickets. Shared taxis leave from opposite Depo Market and cost $15 per seat. The private taxis we use cost $87.50 (SUV for up to 4 passengers) or $147.50 (minivan up to 7 passengers). Both prices include the expressway toll. We can arrange shared and private taxis for guests. Journey times can vary considerably, depending on traffic in Phnom Penh, but should be under 4 hours by private taxi.

From Sihanoukville

From Sihanoukville you can come directly by bus, shared taxi or private taxi. The route is via the expressway and National Road 48. For buses and shared taxis, the final destination is Koh Kong but you should ask to be dropped off in Tatai, which is 20 km before Koh Kong. Only one company (Vireak Buntham Express) operates buses between Sihanoukville and Koh Kong. Prices are around $15 per person There are multiple websites for booking bus tickets. Shared taxis cost $15 per seat. The pick-up point for shared taxis can vary. The private taxis we use cost $78 (SUV for up to 4 passengers) or $133 (minivan up to 7 passengers). Both prices include the expressway toll. We can arrange shared and private taxis for guests. The journey time should be less than 3.5 hours by private taxi.

From Kampot

From Kampot you can come directly by shared taxi or private taxi. For shared taxis, the final destination is Koh Kong bus you should ask to be dropped off in Tatai, which is 20 km before Koh Kong. There is no bus company operating between Kampot and Koh Kong. Shared taxis cost $15 per seat. The pick-up point for shared taxis can vary. The private taxis we use cost $80 (SUV for up to 4 passengers) or $130 (minivan up to 7 passengers). We can arrange shared and private taxis for guests. The journey time should be about 4.5 hours by private taxi.

From Kep

From Kampot you can come directly by private taxi. The private taxis we use cost $90 (SUV for up to 4 passengers) or $140 (minivan up to 7 passengers). We can arrange shared and private taxis for guests. If you would prefer a shared taxis, you will need to get local transport from Kep to Kampot and take a shared taxi from there.

From Battambang

From Battambang you can come by shared taxi or private taxi. The route is through the Cardamom Mountains, via National Road 10. Shared taxis cost $30 per person and go to Koh Kong. From there, you will need a tuk tuk ($15) or taxi ($25) to get to Tatai. Usually, the shared taxis will pick you up from wherever you are staying in Battambang. The private taxis we use cost $160 (SUV for up to 4 passengers) or $240 (minivan up to 7 passengers). We can arrange shared and private taxis for guests.

From Siem Reap

There are a number of option for getting to Tatai from Siem Reap. The only direct method is by private taxi. The private taxis we use cost $160 (SUV for up to 4 passengers) or $240 (minivan up to 7 passengers). The route is via the ring road around Phnom Penh. You can come by bus but you would need to change buses in Phnom Penh. There are night buses from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh, which avoid travelling all day. Alternatively, you can fly to Sihanoukville, and then come to Tatai from there.

From Cambodian Islands

If you are coming from Koh Rong or Koh Rong Samloem, you can get a ferry to Sihanoukville, and then get transport to Tatai from there (see above). From Koh Rong (and other Islands near to Dara Sakor) it is possible to use the Boonsiri ferry company, which has a port in Dara Sakor, Koh Kong Province. They also have a bus service that runs between there and their port at Ban Had Lek, Thailand. You can book ferry tickets that include the bus, and ask them to drop you in Tatai. The Boonsiri option from Koh Rong costs $35 per person (including ferry and bus).

From Thailand

From Thailand, you should cross the border at Ban Had Lek, from where you can get a tuk tuk ($17.50) or taxi ($35) to bring you to Tatai. We can prebook this for you, to save you the hassle and the haggling! If you are coming from Koh Chang, Koh Mak or Koh Kood, you can use the Boonsiri ferry company, which has a port at Ban Had Lek, only 9 km from the border. They also have a bus service that runs between there and their port in Dara Sakor, Koh Kong Province. You can book ferry tickets that include the bus, and ask them to drop you in Tatai.

Payments

Please pay for all transport directly, even if we book the transport for you.

For your accommodation, drinks, activities, etc. we accept payments in cash, KHQR and credit cards. We invoice in USD, but accept cash payments in USD, KHR, THB or a mixture of the three. For credit/debit card payments, we can accept Mastercard, Visa, UnionPay and Japan Credit Bureau. We cannot take payments in advance, except by bank transfer, which can attract fees.
