OUR PARTNERS

Our Partners

Rainbow Lodge are proud to be working with some wonderful and inspiring partners who are committed to providing innovative products and services that promote sustainability and social development.
Cleanbodia

With the average Cambodian using 5-10 traditional plastic bags each day, Cambodia is in dire need of finding alternatives to lower consumption of a product that will outlive us all by hundreds of years. Cleanbodia believe biodegradable and compostable bags are a step in the right direction.

We agree, which is why we use Cleanbodia bags for our lodge and general waste management as well as our food deliveries.

BoTree

aste and enjoy the World’s best pepper from Kampot
Bo Tree Farm is a family owned business supplying the highest quality organically produced pepper. They employ over 20 workers who lovingly water and tend each tree by hand.

Fertilisers are all 100% organic and produced on their farm using cow dung, bat guano, rice paddy crabs and fish heads mixed with grasses, leaves and other humus. Pesticides are made by traditional means using the leaves of locally grown trees that have an insect repelling quality, along with lemongrass planted amongst the pepper plants to help to deter some predators.

We use Kampot pepper in all our cooking and as a condiment. When you visit Rainbow Lodge you can taste for yourself why Kampot Pepper is the best in the world.

We sell travel packs or red, white and black pepper.Visit www.botree.asia

Suckonthat

Suck On That is a social enterprise founded in Cambodia in 2017, with the initiative to promote the use of bamboo straws as an alternative to plastic.

Single-use plastic straws are highly wasteful and unnecessary products that have detrimental impacts on the planet. Plastic is not biodegradable, it simply breaks down into smaller pieces over long periods of time. A plastic straw has a longer lifespan than a human, despite its average 20 minute use. A large portion of discarded plastic straws ends up in our oceans, making it one of the top 10 collected items during beach clean-ups

The bamboo straws we use at Rainbow Lodge are reusable, environmentally friendly, and fair trade.

They start their life in rural Cambodia, where the bamboo is sustainably grown in remote villages, providing jobs to less privileged communities in order to stimulate a better quality of life for the villagers who hand craft each straw.

We sell gift packs of 10 straws in a handcrafted presentation pouch.

RefillNotLandfill

Rainbow Lodge are proud to be a refill station for RefillNotLandfill.

RefillNotLandfill aims to cut down on the millions of plastic water bottles discarded in Cambodia each year by offering an alternative: reusable aluminium bottles.

This informal consortium hopes to revolutionise the way that tourists consume water in a country where few plastic containers are recycled, with most ending up in mountainous landfills or piling up beside roads, choking the Kingdom’s waterways and littering azure fields with waste.

EcoSence Bio Boxes

EcoSense Cambodia is composed of a group of individuals with a shared passion for nature and the beautiful country of Cambodia. This passion is reflected in their commitment to protecting the environment, and a desire to both promote and support positive ecological change in the world today.

Cambodia’s towns and rivers are congested with huge amounts of waste, in particular plastic bags and polystyrene packaging. Besides the incredibly damaging effect on the ecosystem, this deluge of waste is directly contributing to the obstruction of sewer systems.

We use Ecosense Bio Boxes for all our takeaway food. They are made from Bagasse which is the fibrous residue from sugar cane and non-wood fibers. Bagasse is a great alternative to plastic and polystyrene products as it is not hazardous to health and is biodegradable in 45 days.

The advanced production process ensures that the only by-product is water vapor. No harsh chemicals are used during production, which certifies that all products meet the highest level of quality and hygiene.

Three Corners Coffee

Rainbow Lodge coffee is a blend of several types of Cambodian coffee bean and is supplied by Three Corners Coffee.

They ensure that every step of the coffee producing process, from bean to bag, reaches for the least environmental impact. Through recycling and using energy efficient methods of roasting; and more importantly for true cultural preservation: developing their own Direct Trade Model to cooperate with Cambodian farmers and their communities to increase their standard of living.

It is also, of course, wonderful coffee!

Gift packs of Three Corners Coffee are available to purchase at Rainbow Lodge.

IBIS Rice

The white jasmine rice served by Rainbow Lodge is provided by the Ibis Rice Project.

As with most protected areas in Cambodia, communities need an incentive to protect wildlife.

This project provides local communities with an incentive to engage in conservation, by offering farmers a premium price for their rice if they agree to abide conservation agreements that are designed to protect the rare water birds and other species that use the protected areas.

Farmers who sign up to the scheme agree not to hunt species of conservation concern or clear land outside land-use plans (designating specific land areas for rice growing and conservation) developed by the village committees.

This has an immediate impact, boosting the authority of the committees and reinforcing the importance of keeping to land-use plans, whilst in turn landowners receive almost double the price initially offered by local middlemen for their rice.
